Hi, my name is Liz Mecham. I completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus in nursing and a minor as an Honors Fellows for Social Change in October of 2020 at National University in San Diego, California. My educational goal was to become a registered nurse in the hospital setting and hopefully go on to obtain a Master’s degree one day. My professional career has taken me in many directions including working in retail management and as an office manager for an international school. I have always dreamed of returning to school and becoming a nurse. With the support of my family, hard work, and a supportive community that is invested in me, my dream is a reality. I started the accelerated nursing program at National University in January of 2019 and have been working towards my goal of becoming a registered nurse while simultaneously taking classes to fulfill the requirements of my minor in Social Change. My research has taken me in many directions and has helped me discover new passions along the way. As a member of the Honors Fellows for Social Change inaugural cohort at National University, I know I have the opportunity to use this platform and educational program to inspire change in others. I passed the NCLEX licensing exam in December of 2020 and started to work right away as a Registered Nurse on a Direct Observation Unit for Scripps Health Care in San Diego.

My family has always been up for a new adventure. This summer, we relocated to Hawaii for a job opportunity for my spouse and now reside in the Honolulu area. I am in the process of getting my license endorsed to Hawaii and plan to start my job search as soon as I get my active Hawaii license.
